Back to Chapter 25: Muridae Market

Chapter 26: Living Garden / Lost City / Sand Dunes

Table of Contents

Intro

  • You need to have commissioned and collected your Living Garden Key from the Muridae Market Cartographer to enter these areas.
  • Upon collection of the key you will have access to three new locations: The Living Garden, the Lost City, and the Sand Dunes.
  • Later, you'll be able to gain access to "twisted" versions of these locations, namely the Twisted Garden, Cursed City, and Sand Crypts.
  • Each location's mice are only vulnerable to one power type, and each location has a minigame that you can use to improve your essence collection.
  • Leaving a location (including switching to the "twisted" world or back) will not reset your minigame progress.
  • Your first stop should be the Living Garden.

Back to table of contents

Living Garden

  • Mice in the Living Garden are weak only to Hydro traps. Brie or Gouda work fine here.
  • Hunt here to collect Dewthief Petals. You'll also collect Aleth Essences, and maybe a few Ber Essences.
  • You can buy Sponge Charms from the General Store for 200 gold + 1 Aleth Essence.
  • Sponge Charms are only consumed when you catch a Living Garden mouse, and thus collect a Dewdrop. It takes 20 Dewdrops to fill the Dewdrop tank.
  • If you can, buy just enough Sponge Charms to fill the Dewdrop tank with. Otherwise, you should unequip it once its full.
  • Once it is full, you can pour the tank by clicking on the button. You can do that before the tank is full, but it would be less efficient.
  • A full tank will give you 35 hunts in which you have a chance of attracting the Thirsty Mouse. Thirsty Mice drop 1 Ber and 1 Cynd Essence.
  • Once you have collected a good supply (at least 100) of Dewthief Petals, you should trade them in for Dewthief Camembert at the Cheese Shoppe. Note that if you have Magic Essence to spare, you can get the "4-Packs" instead to get more cheese for your petals.
  • Once you have Dewthief Camembert you can hunt in the Lost City and the Sand Dunes.

Back to table of contents

Lost City

  • Mice in the Lost City are weak only to Arcane traps, and are only attracted to Dewthief Camembert.
  • Hunt here to collect Dreamfluff Herbs. You'll also collect Aleth, Ber, and Cynd Essences.
  • You can buy Searcher Charms from the General Store for 350 gold + 1 Aleth Essence each.
  • Buy one Searcher Charm and equip it. Catching any mouse with it will consume it and dispel the curse (unless you're unfortunate enough to catch a Cursed Mouse, in which case buy another Searcher Charm and try again)
  • Once you have lifted the curse, unequip your Searcher Charms if you still have any. You now have a chance to attract the Essence Collector mouse.
  • However, if you attract a Cursed Mouse, the curse would return, and you'd need another Searcher Charm.
  • You should hunt here until you've used up approximately half your Dewthief Camembert supply, and then move on to the Sand Dunes.

Back to table of contents

Sand Dunes

  • Mice in the Sand Dunes are weak only to Shadow traps, and are only attracted to Dewthief Camembert.
  • Hunt here to collect Duskshade Petals. You'll also collect Aleth, Ber, and Cynd Essences.
  • You can buy Grubling Chow Charms from the General Store for 350 gold + 1 Aleth Essence each.
  • Wait for a Grubling Stampede, which occurs randomly. Once it starts, it lasts for 15 hunts. You should then buy enough Grubling Chow Charms to last to the end of the Stampede, and equip them.
  • You will then have the chance of attracting the Grubling mouse.
  • Hunt here until you've used up your Dewthief Camembert supply. Feel free to switch between the Lost City and the Sand Dunes to balance your number of Dreamfluff Herbs and Duskshade Petals.
  • You need Dreamfluff Herbs and Duskshade Petals to buy Duskshade Camembert from the Cheese Shoppe. Once again, there is also a "4-pack" option for those with Magic Essence to spare.
  • Return to the Living Garden and equip your Duskshade Camembert (remember also to switch to a Hydro trap). You will attract Carmine the Apothecary. Catch her, and you'll find yourself... somewhere quite different.

Back to table of contents

Twisted Garden

  • The mice in the "twisted" world look scarier, and also are scarier! Expect to get quite a few misses and redboxes. However, you'll collect higher-ranked essences.
  • Similarly to the Living Garden, mice in the Twisted Garden are weak only to Hydro traps. Use Duskshade Camembert here.
  • Hunting with an "inappropriate" cheese (any cheese other than Duskshade, Graveblossom, or Lunaria Camembert) will send you back to the "normal" world. (This hunt attracts mice from the "normal" world, but the log will still list the hunt as taking place in the "twisted" world.) You'll have to catch Carmine the Apothecary again to return.
  • Hunt here to collect Graveblossom Petals. You'll also collect Aleth, Ber, Cynd, and Dol Essences.
  • You can buy Red Sponge Charms and Yellow Sponge Charms in the General Store, both for 400 gold + 1 Ber Essence each.
  • The minigame here is similar to that of the Living Garden, except that you must collect 10 Red Dewdrops and 10 Yellow Dewdrops to fill the tanks.
  • Pouring will allow you to attract Dehydrated mice. You'll also get a temporary power bonus for your red droplets, and a luck bonus for your yellow droplets. (Get both by filling both before pouring!)
  • Buy Graveblossom Cheese from the Cheese Shoppe. Once again, there is also a "4-pack" option for those with Magic Essence to spare. You can then hunt in the Cursed City and Sand Crypt.

Back to table of contents

Cursed City

  • Similarly to the Lost City, mice in the Cursed City are weak only to Arcane traps. Use Graveblossom Camembert here.
  • Hunt here to collect Plumepearl Herbs. You'll also collect Aleth, Ber, Cynd, and Dol Essences.
  • You can buy Bravery Charms, Clarity Charms, and Shine Charms in the General Store, all for 300 gold + 1 Ber Essence each.
  • The curse here is a lot stronger! You'll need to use all three charms to dispel the curse and unlock the Essence Guardian mice.
  • Attracting a Corrupt mouse will restore all three curses.
  • Hunt here until you've used up approximately half your Graveblossom Cheese supply, then move on to the Sand Crypt.

Back to table of contents

Sand Crypts

  • Similarly to the Sand Dunes, mice in the Sand Crypts are weak only to Shadow traps. Use Graveblossom Camembert here.
  • Hunt here to collect Lunaria Petals. You'll also collect Aleth, Ber, and Cynd Essences.
  • You can buy Grub Salt Charms (200 gold + 1 Ber Essence) and Grub Scent Charms (500 gold + 1 Cynd Essence) in the General Store.
  • The minigame here is quite different from the one in the Sand Dunes. You'll first need to equip Grub Salt Charms to weaken the King Grub mouse.
  • Once the King Grub mouse is sufficiently weak (about 30 ~ 40 salts should do; the meter maxes out at 50), equip Grub Scent Charms to attract him. He drops essences all the way up to Fel!
  • You need Plumepearl Herbs and Lunaria Petals to buy Lunaria Camembert from the Cheese Shoppe. Once again, there is also a "4-pack" option for those with Magic Essence to spare.
  • Return to the Twisted Garden and equip your Lunaria Camembert (remember also to switch to a Hydro trap). You will attract Twisted Carmine. Catch her, and you'll get the Living Chest.
  • The contents of the Living Chest varies, but seem to always contain Fresh Twisted Garden Soil and a Gur Essence.

Back to table of contents

Shattering Charm

  • You may want to first craft the weapons listed in the Recipes section before attempting to catch these mice.
  • To catch the ultimate mice (Shattered Carmine, Dark Magi, King Scarab) in these areas, you must have a Shattering Charm.
  • The recipe is: 1 Epic Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Icuri Essence + 1 Aromatic Oil = 1 Shattering Charm
  • Aromatic Oil is available in the Charm Shoppe. Overall, each charm will set you back 1,150,000 gold, not including the Prisms you may have needed to craft Icuri Essences.
  • Each Shattering Charm is consumed only when you catch one of these powerful mice.
  • You must also make sure you're in the "twisted" world.
  • To catch the Shattered Carmine, you must be in the Twisted Garden. Arm your strongest Hydro trap, Lunaria Camembert, and the Shattering Charm. Trying for her when the bonuses from pouring the Dewdrops are active can be helpful.
    • She drops the Living Garden Theme Scrap 1 and Shattered Chest.
    • The Shattered Chest contains Rift Mist and assorted goodies. You may even find some torn pages from Plankrun's journal.
  • To catch the Dark Magi, you must be in the Cursed City. First, you must dispel all three curses. Then arm your strongest Arcane trap, Graveblossom Camembert, and the Shattering Charm.
    • He drops the Living Garden Theme Scrap 2 and Dark Chest.
    • The Dark Chest contains Rift Stars and assorted goodies. You may even find some torn pages from Plankrun's journal.
  • To catch the King Scarab, you must be in the Sand Crypts. First, you must salt your trap with Grub Salt Charms; you'll probably want to max out your meter (it takes 50 to do so). Then arm your strongest Shadow trap, Graveblossom Camembert, and the Shattering Charm.
    • He drops the Living Garden Theme Scrap 3 and Scarab Chest.
    • The Scarab Chest contains a Rift Crystal and assorted goodies. You may even find some torn pages from Plankrun's journal.
  • Craft the three Living Garden Theme scraps to acquire a new Living Garden Theme to decorate your profile.
  • Once you have collected and opened all three chests, you'll be able to craft the Rift Base. Note though, that the blueprints are very costly (7,500,000 gold).
  • Alternatively, you can craft an Ultimate Charm.

Recipes

  • There are 9 ranks of essences. They are, from lowest to highest: Aleth, Ber, Cynd, Dol, Est, Fel, Gur, Hix, and Icuri.
  • You can upgrade essences to the next rank by crafting 3 essences of the same rank with an Essence Prism, available in the General Store for 500 gold. (e.g. 3 Aleth Essences + 1 Essence Prism = 1 Ber Essence)
  • You may also smash higher essences into their equivalent Aleth Essences. (Ber = 3, Cynd = 9, Dol = 27, Est = 81, Fel = 243, Gur = 729, Hix = 2187, Icuri = 6561) However, you won't recover any Essence Prisms.
  • Do not upgrade every set of essences you find; though higher essences can be smashed, recrafting them back to the desired rank may cost you a lot of Essence Prisms.
  • Keeping track of what essences you can craft and how best to craft them can be tricky. Try the Essence Wizard.
  • Now, for the recipes:
  • Soiled Base
    • Points required: Unknown
    • A base that provides additional luck when combined with Growth or Wild Growth Charms. Probably not worth the trouble, as Spellbook or Papyrus are generally better.
    • Power: 400; Power Bonus: 12%; Attraction Bonus: 5%; Luck: 6; Cheese Effect: Very Fresh.
    • 1 Fel Essence + 1 Gur Essence + 1 Hix Essence = 1 Soiled Base Blueprints.
    • 1 Soiled Base Blueprints + 3 Fresh Twisted Garden Soil + 1 Lunaria Petal + 1 Duskshade Petal + 1 Graveblossom Petal + 1 Dewthief Petal = 1 Soiled Base.
  • Phantasmic Oasis Trap
    • Points required: 150 million
    • A very powerful Hydro weapon. Power: 5,850; Power Bonus: 15%; Attraction Bonus: 20%; Luck: 26; Cheese Effect: None.
    • You probably should craft this one first, as it makes catching Twisted Carmine easier.
    • 1 Est Essence + 1 Fel Essence + 1 Icuri Essence = 1 Phantasmic Oasis Trap Blueprints.
    • 1 Phantasmic Oasis Trap Blueprints + 1 Oasis Water Node Trap Parts + 3 Phantasmic Essences = 1 Phantasmic Oasis Trap.
    • Smash the Oasis Water Node Trap to get Oasis Water Node Trap Parts. Phantasmic Essence is available in the Living Garden and Twisted Garden general stores for 1,000,000 gold each.
    • Estimated cost (excluding trap parts and prisms): 3,000,000 gold.
  • Clockwork Portal Trap
    • Points required: 150 million
    • A very powerful Shadow weapon. Power: 3,900; Power Bonus: 12%; Attraction Bonus: 10%; Luck: 20; Cheese Effect: None.
    • 1 Fel Essence + 1 Icuri Essence = 1 Clockwork Portal Trap Blueprints.
    • 1 Clockwork Portal Trap Blueprints + 1 Clock Parts + 8 Umbral Capacitors = 1 Clockwork Portal Trap.
    • Smash a Clockapult of Time to get Clock Parts. (If you don't already have one, it's available in the Cape Clawed trapsmith for 2,700,000 gold.) Umbral Capacitors are available in the Sand Dunes and Sand Crypts general stores for 500,000 gold each.
    • Estimated cost (excluding trap parts and prisms): 4,000,000 gold.
  • Grand Arcanum Trap
    • Points required: 150 million
    • A very powerful Arcane weapon. Power: 4,800; Power Bonus: 12%; Attraction Bonus: 5%; Luck: 22; Cheese Effect: None.
    • 1 Gur Essence + 1 Icuri Essence = 1 Grand Arcanum Trap Blueprints.
    • 1 Grand Arcanum Trap Blueprints + 1 A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Parts + 1 Arcane Crystal + 40 Tiny Platinum Bars = 1 Grand Arcanum Trap.
    • Smash an Arcane Capturing Rod of Never Yielding Mystery to get A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Parts. Arcane Crystals (2,500,000 gold) and Tiny Platinum Bars (60,000 gold) are available in the Lost City and Cursed City general stores.
    • Estimated cost (excluding trap parts and prisms): 4,900,000 gold.
  • Rift Base
    • Points required: 125 million
    • This base has more luck than all previous bases, and has a healthy power bonus as well.
    • Power: 250; Power Bonus: 12%; Attraction Bonus: 0%; Luck: 11; Cheese Effect: Fresh.
    • 1 Rift Base Blueprints + 1 Rift Mist + 1 Rift Stars + 1 Rift Crystal = 1 Rift Base
    • The Rift Base Blueprints can be acquired from the General Store for 7.5 million gold. The other three items require Shattering Charms to collect.
  • Other recipes
    • 1 Est Essence + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Unstable Gourd
      • The Unstable Gourd can be poked, yielding a surprise every time! You may get some type of Camembert, some Essences (not worth more than the Est Essence you used though), or various varieties of cheeses used in earlier locations that will remind you of its little brother, the Unstable Curd.
      • There's also a very small chance of obtaining a Zugzwang's Leftover Rock, an exclusive collectible.
    • 1 Divine Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Dol Essence = 1 Growth Charm
      • Gives 100 Power, 3% Power Bonus, 4 Luck, and 5% Attraction Bonus when used with the Soiled Base. Has no stats otherwise.
      • Verdict: 25,000 gold per encounter? Keep looking...
    • 1 Epic Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Est Essence + 1 Fresh Twisted Garden Soil = 1 Wild Growth Charm
      • Gives 300 Power, 8% Power Bonus, 9 Luck, and 20% Attraction Bonus when used with the Soiled Base. Has no stats otherwise.
      • Verdict: If you have this much gold to spend on charms, I think that the "ultimate" ones below would serve you better.
    • 1 Divine Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Est Essence = 1 Ultimate Power Charm
      • Power: 2,400; Power Bonus: 20%. Much better value than the Growth Charm, but is still quite expensive. Probably better to get some from the Warmonger Mouse and/or special events.
    • 1 Epic Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Fel Essence = 1 Ultimate Luck Charm
      • Luck: 20. Even more expensive, but that's what you get for the best charm in the game. I don't recommend you craft these unless you're trying to score very high in a tournament or something. Can still get them from Warmonger Mouse, Iceberg Strongbox and Treasure Chest, and/or special events.
    • 1 Epic Orb + 1000 Charmbits + 1 Icuri Essence + 1 Aromatic Oil = 1 Shattering Charm
      • Required to attract the most powerful mice in the Living Garden areas. See the Shattering Charm section for details.
    • 1 Epic Orb + 2500 Charmbits + 1 Rift Crystal + 1 Rift Mist + 1 Rift Stars = 1 Ultimate Charm
      • The rift items require Shattering Charms to collect. The Ultimate Charm will catch the next mouse you encounter, regardless. There is also a chance that the charm would survive for another use.
    • 1 Living Garden Theme Scrap 1 + 1 Living Garden Theme Scrap 2 + 1 Living Garden Theme Scrap 3 = 1 Living Garden Theme
      • A profile theme to decorate your profile, and to prove your mastery of the Living Garden.
      • The scraps require Shattering Charms to collect.
      • To switch your profile theme, go to your profile via the Mousehunt Shield. Then click the Select Theme button.
  • Charmbits (25 gold) and Aromatic Oil (1,000,000 gold) are available at the Charm Shoppe. Plant Pots (900 gold) and Epic Orbs (125,000 gold) are available at the General Store.
  • Divine Orbs are available in many locations; one of the most reliable methods is hunting for Dojo Senseis in the Pinnacle Chamber

Special Recipes

  • These are recipes that require special crafting ingredients only available from Ronza's Travelling Shoppe (that very occasionally appears) or the Marketplace:
    • 1 Blue Double Dewdrop Powder + 2 Aleth Essence + 1 Flawless Orb = 1 Double Sponge Charm: causes mice in the Living Garden to drop 2 Dewdrops instead of one.
    • 1 Red Double Dewdrop Powder + 2 Ber Essence + 1 Divine Orb = 1 Double Red Sponge Charm: causes mice in the Twisted Garden to drop 2 Red Dewdrops instead of one.
    • 1 Yellow Double Dewdrop Powder + 2 Ber Essence + 1 Divine Orb = 1 Double Yellow Sponge Charm: causes mice in the Twisted Garden to drop 2 Yellow Dewdrops instead of one.
    • 1 Extra Coarse Salt + 2 Ber Essence + 1 Divine Orb = 1 Super Salt Charm: increases salt level in the Sand Crypts twice as quickly as the Grub Salt Charm.
    • The Safeguard Charm isn't crafted; it can be directly bought from Ronza or the Marketplace, and reduces attraction rates of Cursed or Corrupt mice.
  • You may also get these charms from Living Garden Treasure Chests.
