Event Appendix: Halloween at the Haunted Terrortories

  • On October 19, 2011, the Halloween at the Haunted Terrortories event was started, and the Haunted Terrortories (not a typo; but a bad pun :p ) location was opened.
  • First, you should click on "Friends" and visit your friends profiles, and clicking the "Trick or Treat" button. You may get a Treat, and therefore 3 Candy Corn cheese, or a Trick, and therefore 3 Ghoulgonzola cheese.
  • You may see a candy under your friend's picture; this is clickable, and will give you a piece of Halloween Candy!
  • You can also set whether to Trick or Treat friends who visit your page by going to your own profile (click on the shield). Pick either one.
  • Those who've been in this event last year might note that this time, there is no "default" option; a friend is only available for trick-or-treating if they had chosen which one to give out.
  • If you have a surplus of one of the two cheeses, you might want to ask some of your friends to switch.
  • You can go "trick or treating" on up to 10 profiles a day. Each day begins on midnight GMT. The MouseHunt Timer is useful for keeping track.
  • Note that the Haunted Terrortories are only open for Recruit and up. If you're still a Novice, don't despair; the special cheeses have a high attraction rate in the Meadow during the Halloween season, so feel free to use them there until you reach Recruit! What's more, they're effectively free, so you save gold buying cheese!
  • Note the status bar when you enter the Haunted Terrortories. This shows your progress through the three sub-locations: the Corn Field Maze, the Haunted Manor, and the Pumpkin Patch.
  • You need to catch mice with both special cheeses to advance to the next sub-location (this is done automatically; no travel is required). Each catch with Ghoulgonzola fills up the Mice Tricked bar, and each catch with Candy Corn fills up the Mice Treated bar.
  • Note that if you surpass the requirement for one side without fulfilling the other, the boxes do not fill past the next location symbol; and your cheese is wasted. For example, if you fill up the 10 "Mice Treated" boxes before the Haunted Manor symbol before filling up the 10 "Mice Tricked" boxes, any mice you continue to catch with Candy Corn cheese do not further contribute to your progress.
  • If you're short on special cheese, you can switch to hunting with regular cheese. Mice here occasionally drop Candy Corn or Ghoulgonzola cheese that you can continue to hunt with.
  • Here's a list of tips for each sub-location:
    • Corn Field Maze
      • This sub-location has indigenous mice (dressed for the occasion!), which should be able to be caught by most traps. It also features a few old and new event mice. Try using your luckiest setup to increase loot drops.
      • Mutated Grey mice drop Candy Corn cheese, Mutated White mice drop Ghoulgonzola cheese, and Hollowhead mice may drop either or sometimes both.
      • You need 10 mice tricked and 10 mice treated to advance to the next sub-location.
    • Haunted Manor
      • Tougher mice from the Shadow Clan group appear. Thus it is recommended to switch to your strongest Shadow or Arcane trap, if you have one.
      • If you don't have one, don't worry; all mice from the Corn Field Maze still exist, and the event mice can still be caught by physical traps.
      • You need an additional 20 mice tricked and 20 mice treated to advance to the next sub-location.
    • Pumpkin Patch
      • More Shadow Clan mice appear. You will also encounter event mice in greater frequency.
      • You need to trick 39 more mice, then catch a Trick Mouse that would be unlocked to fill the last box. You also need to treat 39 more mice, then catch a Treat Mouse that would be unlocked to fill the last box.
      • Trick and Treat mice are only attracted to the correct event cheese.
      • Once you've filled both bars, Mousevina von Vermin would be unlocked. Catch her using either event cheese to get the Soulstone! Once you've caught her, your progress is reset and you start from the Corn Field Maze again.
  • Once you have the Soulstone, you can buy the Soul Catcher (190,000 gold) from the Haunted Terrortories Trapsmith.
  • The Soul Catcher is a Shadow weapon. It has slightly more power and attraction than the Bottomless Grave, and also provides an additional +10 luck bonus in the Haunted Terrortories.
  • The additional luck bonus makes it quite a good weapon to use here in the Haunted Terrortories, especially if you don't have the ACRONYM.
  • The Soul Catcher can be upgraded to a better trap, the Soul Harvester, using the following recipe (est. cost: 1,654,400 gold):
    • 1 Soul Catcher Parts (obtained by smashing the Soul Catcher)
    • 2 Onyx Stones (loot from Master of the Dojo)
    • 2 Metamorphic Rocks (purchased from the Seasonal Garden GS)
    • 12 Tiny Platinum Bars (purchased from the Training Grounds GS)
    • 12 Living Shards (purchased from Digby GS; Monster mice may drop some)
  • Note that you can only complete this recipe if you have a rank of at least Lord/Lady, and access to the Seasonal Garden.
  • The Soul Harvester is strong enough to substitute the Clockapult of Time, and gets a luck bonus in the Haunted Terrortories, and in the Seasonal Garden during the Fall.
  • With this bonus, its strength is comparable to the Reaper's Perch, but the Reaper's Perch will outclass the Soul Harvester in locations without this bonus.
  • Are the mice here too wimpy? Do you have a surplus of Candy Corn and Ghoulgonzola cheese? If your answer to both questions are yes, you can buy and arm Spooky Charms (cost: 600 gold + 1 Candy Corn + 1 Ghoulgonzola) available from the Charm Shoppe here. Be sure you have an Arcane trap ready to catch the mice you'd attract!
  • This year, there is also additional loot to be found here in the Terrortories; Halloween Candies and Cobwebs can be traded in the various stores here, for hunting supplies and spooky trap skins!
  • On October 30th, Hunting Teams have been reimplemented. Go to Friends → Hunting Team to create a team, or ask a friend to invite you to theirs!
  • Teams are tasked to catch a series of "prankster" mice in the Haunted Terrortories. There are 10 mice breeds to catch, each one being unlocked and revealed when the previous one is caught by anyone in your team.
  • Note that some breeds of mice can only be attracted in certain sub-locations, and some only by Spooky Charms. Be sure to click the link in that "Effectiveness" stat under your trap selector, to see what kind of mice you are able to attract. You may also view this page (offsite) as a reference.
  • One possible strategy is to switch to using Brie once you're in the right sub-location, in order to save event cheese to trade for Spooky Charms, and to prevent yourself from advancing to another sub-location.
  • You must catch the mice in the Haunted Terrortories; catching the breed of mouse elsewhere, like the Catacombs, will not count.
  • Catching all 10 mice will get you a surprise gift from the King; click on "Gift" on the HitGrab toolbar to claim it!
  • The mission can be repeated as long as the event lasts.
