Appendix A: Ronza
Ronza is a travelling merchant that appears from time to time, usually around special events. When she does, a new location will appear in Gnawnia, "Ronza's Traveling Shoppe". She sells limited edition traps. She only hangs around for a few days at a time.
If you're lucky enough to have acquired her wares, or have received them in the "gifts" that often precede her arrival, read the following to find out where they may be used in place of the standard traps.
First visit: 16-18 August 2008
She only sold one item during this visit.
DeathBot (Chrome Edition)
- Cost: 512,800 gold
- Points Required: 136,500
- Power: 2,800 / Physical
- Power Bonus: 20%
- Attraction Bonus: 15%
- Luck: 30
- Cheese Effect: Very Stale
Suggested usage: The following usage suggestions are based on the statistics here.
- Is an excellent substitute for all Physical Traps, up and including the Digby Drillbot.
- The high luck is useful for maximizing potion drops in the Laboratory and the Great Gnarled Tree.
- Is an adequate substitute for the Sinister Portal in the Mousoleum. It catches less Shadow mice, but enough Zombies, Bats, and Monsters to make it worth your while. If you have this, you can skip buying the portal.
- Not recommended in Furoma. Will deceptively do fine in the Training Grounds, but suffers in the Dojo against the Student and Master mice whose materials are needed to craft the Ambush.
- Avoid using in the Bristle Woods.
- Note how these suggested usages are identical to the PartyBot below; they are very similar traps. The PartyBot is far more common due to its price and recency.
Second visit: 18-21 October 2008
She sold one item: Moon Cheese for 2,000 per piece. Moon Cheese can now be crafted.
Third visit: 15-19 December 2008
She sold Swiss cheese for 100 gold, Splintered Wood for 175 gold, and:
Snow Barrage
- Cost: 140,600 gold
- Points Required: 68,000
- Power: 1,450 / Tactical
- Power Bonus: 20%
- Attraction Bonus: 20%
- Luck: 28
- Cheese Effect: Very Fresh
Suggested usage:
- Avoid using in the Mousoleum: the Sinister Portal does better than this, and you get to skip the next trap, so you might as well get the portal.
- Is an adequate substitute for the Zugzwang's Last Move in Furoma. If you have this, you can skip buying it.
- Great for use in the Whisker Woods, especially the Great Gnarled Tree. Its high luck will increase the potion drops.
- Avoid using in the Bristle Woods.
Fourth visit: 31 December 2008 - 5 January 2009
She sold Swiss cheese for 100 gold, Splintered Wood for 175 gold, and:
Polar Base
- Cost: 59,550 gold
- Points Required: 90,000
- Power: 200
- Power Bonus: 10%
- Attraction Bonus: 0%
- Luck: 4
- Cheese Effect: Insanely Fresh
Suggested usage:
- Is an excellent substitute for the Explosive and the Dehydration Base for most purposes. Whenever you see me suggest either of these bases, you can use the Polar Base instead. Exception: the Explosive Base is still useful for creating Stale Cheese to be used in recipes.
Fifth visit: 9-13 March 2009
She sold Swiss cheese for 100 gold, Splintered Wood for 175 gold, Party Hats for 15,000 gold, the HitGrab Horsey, and the Birthday Cake Base.
HitGrab Horsey
- Cost: 15,850 gold
- Points Required: 0
- Power: 550 / Physical
- Power Bonus: 2%
- Attraction Bonus: 0%
- Luck: 20
- Cheese Effect: Very Fresh
Suggested usage:
- Is an excellent substitute for all traps up to the Mouse Rocketine.
- Is an adequate substitute for the Swiss Army Mouse Trap. If you have this, you can skip buying it.
- Is not very useful later in the game, but the developers have hinted that there may be a special use for this trap in the future.
Birthday Cake Base
- Cost: 12,350 gold
- Points Required: 0
- Power: 175
- Power Bonus: 11%
- Attraction Bonus: 5%
- Luck: 0
- Cheese Effect: No Effect
Suggested usage:
- Is something like a stronger version of the Stone Base. May be used in place of the Wooden Base with Target in the early game, although the Wooden Base with Target is still useful in its own right for its attraction bonus.
- Because of its high power bonus, it is marginally useful when combined with high-powered weapons like the Digby Drillbot, Ambush, or Harpoon Gun, giving more combined power than the Explosive Base.
- However, this base is quite practically superceded by the Tribal Base. Perhaps there may be a special use for this base in the future.
The Party Hat can be crafted with DeathBot Parts (obtained by smashing a Mouse DeathBot), to make:
PartyBot
- Cost: Crafted
- Points Required: 91,000
- Power: 2,850 / Physical
- Power Bonus: 15%
- Attraction Bonus: 15%
- Luck: 25
- Cheese Effect: Stale
Suggested usage:
- Note how these suggested usages are identical to the Deathbot (Chrome Edition) above; they are very similar traps. The PartyBot is far more common due to its price and recency.
Sixth visit: 20 October - 3 November 2009
She sold Swiss Cheese for 100 gold, and brought 4 new weapons, a new base, and a crafting item. Also, the mice this time drop some interesting stuff... more details below.
HitGrab Rockin' Horse
- Cost: 158,500 gold
- Points Required: 9,100
- Power: 1,250 / Physical
- Power Bonus: 2%
- Attraction Bonus: 10%
- Luck: 25
- Cheese Effect: No Effect
Suggested usage:
- Can be considered a stronger counterpart to the Swiss Army Mouse Trap, though it costs over twice as much.
Giant Speaker
- Cost: 612,800 gold
- Points Required: 91,000
- Power: 2,850 / Tactical
- Power Bonus: 5%
- Attraction Bonus: 5%
- Luck: 22
- Cheese Effect: No Effect
Suggested usage:
- Being a Tactical type weapon, with stats roughly equal to the Ambush, this trap is useful in the Furoma and Whisker Woods regions. That is, if you can afford it...
Kraken Chaos
- Cost: 860,000 gold
- Points Required: 843,500
- Power: 3,400 / Hydro
- Power Bonus: 0%
- Attraction Bonus: 0%
- Luck: 18
- Cheese Effect: Stale
Suggested usage:
- If you have not caught the Hydra Mouse with the Ship Blueprints yet, this is quite useful, as it is a Hydro trap you can buy without having access to the S.S. Huntington II.
- If you have this, you can pretty much skip buying the Harpoon Gun or Net Cannon from the S.S. Huntington II.
- However, there is one caveat: the Ancient Spear Gun requires parts from a Harpoon Gun or Net Cannon. If you get this, it's up to you whether you want to go through the cost and trouble of crafting the Ancient Spear Gun when you get to it; the Kraken Chaos is expected to perform slightly worse, but not by too much.
Magma Base
- Cost: 374,700 gold
- Points Required: 238,200
- Power: 300
- Power Bonus: 8%
- Attraction Bonus: 5%
- Luck: 10
- Cheese Effect: Insanely Stale
Suggested usage:
- Can be thought of as a stronger version of the Explosive Base. Its high Luck is also useful when combined with weapons with high Luck.
- The Insanely Stale cheese effect is useful for creating stale cheese.
The General Store sells the Rainbow Mohawk Wig of Awesomeness. If you have the HitGrab Horsey, you may now smash it into Hobby Horse Parts, and use this recipe:
- 1 Hobby Horse Parts
- 1 Invisi-glu (from the Bazaar)
- 1 Rainbow Mohawk Wig of Awesomeness
... to craft the HitGrab Rainbow Rockin' Horse. The stats are identical to the HitGrab Rockin' Horse, except that the cheese effect is "Very Fresh" instead of "No Effect".
But wait... there's more!
The mice during this visit drop two interesting things: the Teddy Bear and Rockforth cheese.
- The Teddy Bear can be "hugged" from the Miscellaneous tab. Awwwwrrr... :3 It has no other known use as of yet.
- Rockforth cheese can be used to attract the rare Rockstar mouse... travel to the Town of Gnawnia, Town of Digby, or S.S. Huntington II, arm it, and good luck!
